Catherine “Bunny” Canivan of Rocky Hill, CT, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022. She was born April 9, 1936, in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Charles C. Canivan and Catherine V. (Harkins) Canivan. She attended Mt. St. Joseph Academy, West Hartford, CT, and St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center School of Nursing, Hartford, CT, and earned a graduate degree in nursing from Boston University. Bunny worked as a nurse and APRN at the hospital for over 35 years. After retirement from

St. Francis, she was co-founder of a company that provided contract nursing services to Hartford area convalesce­nt homes. With her adventurou­s nature, she traveled the world. Bunny was always helping others— from working as a nurse to volunteeri­ng as an English as a Second Language teacher. She was a lifelong Hartford Southender before moving to Rocky Hill in 2005.

She is survived by her brother, James Canivan of Charleston, SC, formerly of Glastonbur­y, CT, and

nephew and nieces, Gregory Canivan of Charleston, SC, Melinda Canivan Swafford of Virginia Beach, VA, and Laurianne Canivan of New Jersey.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Road, Wethersfie­ld, CT, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave. Hartford, CT, on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 10:00AM, followed by interment at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT. Bunny loved her dogs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal humane society or the Alzheimer's Associatio­n.
