- Please sign guestbook at courant.com/obituaries

Charles Leslie Cromwell Rossow, age 55, was born on March 18, 1967 and passed peacefully into eternity on December 20, 2022, surrounded by family and listening to his favorite music. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as Charlie or Chaz. Charlie was an avid fan of musicians Phil Collins, Genesis and Barry Manilow. Often, Charlie spent hours, with his faithful friend, Alexa, listening to and singing along with his favorite music. Charlie grew up in Ellington, CT. with his brothers and sisters and spent his adult years living in Amston, CT. at his Sunrise home. Charlie enjoyed sharing adventures with his housemates Kevin and Steven. He also enjoyed spending time with his close friends and compassionate caregivers Marina Jarish, Laura Kamm, Allen Plummer, Dawn Cristavo, and Phyllis Frazier. Charlie's special friend, Dwayne DeSilva, provided endless medical expertise, advocacy and encouragement to Charlie and his family during

Charlie's long illness.

Charlie had an infectious smile, kind heart and loving spirit. Charlie had many dog friends throughout his life that loved to sit on his lap or lay next to him. Charlie grinned from ear to ear as his dog friends routinely climbed onto his wheelchair and gave him kisses. In his youth, Charlie was a dedicated fan of Clifford the Big Red Dog and maintained an extensive stuffed toy dog collection that was very important to him. Charlie had a great sense of humor. He repeatedly watched every episode of the sitcom Family Matters, laughing loudly at “Irkel's” antics. Charlie lived on ham and cheese. He did not have an affinity for anything green

or vegetable related.

Charlie looked forward to holiday gatherings spent with his family. He will be terribly missed by his family and friends. Charlie is survived by his dear lifelong friend and caregiver, Doris Marshall of Ellington, CT. He is also survived by his father, Carl Rossow and fiancée Deborah Hunter, siblings, Rachel Rossow Corcoran and husband Patrick, Robert Rossow and wife Stacey, Michael Rossow, Aaron Rossow, Roy Rossow, Elizabeth Wheeler and wife Tiffany, David Janton, and Susan Rossow Janton. Uncle Charlie also leaves his beloved nieces and nephews. Charlie is preceded in his death by his mother Rachel Wheeler-Rossow, and siblings Christopher, Simone, Maria, Benjamin, David, Eddy, Ellen, Mary, Dina, Patrick, Jose Luis and Joseph.

A Celebration of Life for Charlie will be held in early spring 2023 at Charlie's home, the Sunrise Group Home in Amston CT.
