Jonathan (Jon) Oechsler, 67, of Coventry, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Hartford Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Jon faced his illness with quiet dignity & grace and was inspirational in the way he maintained good humor, hope, optimism & always with greater concern for the well-being of those around him, than for himself. Jon was surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his passing. Jon was born November 1, 1955 to the late Franklin and Patricia (Riley) Oechsler in Rockville Center, NY. In addition to his parents, Jon was predeceased by his twin brother Jerrold (Jerry) Oechsler. Jon is survived by his loving wife, Holly, his daughter Bianca (Jada) Racine of Michigan, brother James (Shelly) Oechsler of Lebanon, sister Patricia (Jean) Jacques of Marlborough, his nephews Christopher (Sarah) Jacques, James Oechsler, and niece Ashley Jacques, as well as many cousins and friends.

Jon grew up in Glastonbury where he enjoyed particpating in a variety of sports during his youth. In later years he enjoyed passionately cheering on his favorite teams the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox & Celtics. Jon was a bonafide “do-it-yourselfer” tackling many home improvement projects. He took pride in maintaining his property and beautifying his landscape. Jon was also a creative & innovative cook. His family were the delighted recipients of his culinary talents and always looked forward to his delicious contributions to holiday meals. Prior to his retirement Jon was a sales associate for many years with Raymour & Flanigan where he was affectionately known as “Jonny O”. His outgoing personality and ability to connect with people earned him many repeat customers and friendships with both his co-workers and customers. Jon always took pride in his appearance and dressed for success, looking like a million bucks when he stepped out the door. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and was a friend to everyone he met. He found peace and enjoyment in many long walks & hikes in the woods, always accompanied by his beloved dogs & faithful companions, Sable & Tory. We will forever miss and always remember Jon for his generous & giving nature, his huge heart and sweet smile but mostly for the love he shared and the good times, laughter and joy as the measure of his life well lived.

Per Jon's request, no services will be held at this time. A memorial celebration of Jon's life will be held at a later date. Donations in Jon's memory can be made to Protector's of Animals,144 Main Street, Unit O, East Hartford, CT 06118 or to a charity of the donor's choosing.
