Raymond J. Jacques, 80, of Nokomis, Florida, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. He was born on September 5, 1942, in Hartford, CT, son of the late Joseph Jacques and Alice “Bedard” Jacques.

Ray met the love of his life, Yvonne at a 7th grade dance at McCormacks dance studio. Following a reconnecti­on after high school, they married on September 11, 1965 and were inseparabl­e during their 57 years of marriage.

Ray was a meat cutter by trade, and owned The United food Store in Hartford until 1983. From there he became a meat cutter at various grocery stores eventually retiring from Stop and Shop as a meat manager in 2004.

Ray lived in Hartford until 1971 when he moved to South Windsor, CT. He lived in South Windsor until 2015 when he decided to make sunny Florida his permanent residence. Ray loved music and was proud to be the official CD seller for the Gulf Coast Banjo Society where he met and befriended many wonderful people.

He was happiest when surrounded by his tomato plants or spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid cook, loving to experiment but also enjoyed making his tried and true recipes like his meat pie, spaghetti sauce, pizza, tortellini soup and sloppy joes, to name a few. Raymond was known as a kind and quiet man but was also loved for his wonderful wit and sense of humor which kept everyone smiling and laughing right to the end.

Ray left his legacy on this world, and it is a better place for having had him in it. He is survived by his wife Yvonne “Cormier” Jacques and his 3 girls, Sandi Ouellette and her husband Joe of East Windsor CT, Debbi Norman and her husband Michael of Higganum, CT, and Karen Warren and her boyfriend Mike Ungwitter of East Windsor CT. He was especially proud to be the Pepere of Amanda Warren, Ryan Ouellette, Sarah Ouellette and her fiancé Colin Claus, Grayson Norman and Tea Norman.

He is also survived by his brothers Paul Jacques, George (Nancy) Jacques, his sisters Lorraine (Vinny) Paneccasio, and Shirley (Phil) Pessina and his sister and brother-in-laws Robert Garry, Tom (Shannon) Cormier, Ray (Gaeann) Cormier and Terri Ficcaro. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and very dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predecease­d by his brother David Jacques and sisterin-laws Diana “Cormier” Garry and Doris “Bouffard” Jacques.

His family will receive friends on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., meeting directly at St. Margaret Mary Church, 80 Hayes Rd., South Windsor CT. A private burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
