Joseph Jerry Emile Berthiaume, Sr., husband of Suzanne Cosker Berthiaume, of East Hartford, Connecticu­t passed away peacefully on March 6, 2023. Jerry, affectiona­tely known by many, was born July 13, 1952, in Sanford, Maine, son of Theresa Godin Robidas and the late Emile Berthiaume. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Era Veteran, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a life member of the VFW.

Jerry was a loving husband, son, father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r, brother and friend. Making memories with his family was something that he cherished. He was fascinated with carnival life, as he, his father and family were “carnies”. The Big E was his home for many years. Jerry was a true sports enthusiast and was a Celtics, Giants and Nascar fanatic. He also loved to hunt and fish whenever possible. Besides being a loving and devoted father, his proudest accomplish­ment was being a stuntman.

Jerry had many talents, from a young boy delivering groceries in his beloved wagon, to working independen­tly shoe shining on Park Street. He worked for Barrieau Moving Co. for over twenty years. Jerry became proficient in dry wall taping, as this was a skill that he learned from his former brother’s in-law. Jerry’s life and legacy will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Along with his devoted wife, Suzanne, Jerry is survived by his mother, Theresa Godin Robidas; his children, Bonnie Williams and her partner, Robert, Connie Stager and her partner Fernando, and Joe, Jr. and his wife Lisa; his sisters, Robin Laferriere and Lisa Alvarez and her husband Guillermo, and their children, Jazmyn, Chelsea, Elijah, and Sarah and her husband Joshua; his grandchild­ren, Gabrielle Berthiaume, Alexus Williams and Ryan Stager and his wife Jenna, Alyssa Bethiaume, twins Cody and Tallon Stager; his great grand-daughter, Navelli Barnes, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, nephews, brother and sister in-laws, all whom he loved dearly. Along with his father Emile, Jerry was predecease­d by his maternal grandparen­t, Onesime Godin and his wife Mabel Duprey Godin; his paternal grandparen­ts, William Vir and his wife Irene Berthiaume, and his younger brother Ronnie Berthiaume.

Jerry’s family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 11am-12pm, at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT.
