Robert (Bob) Wayne Whitehill, 90, of Marlboroug­h, a beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 28, surrounded by family. Robert was born in Norwich, CT to Loretta and Newton Whitehill. He is survived by his children, David Whitehill, Brian Whitehill and life partner Ann Poissant, Cynthia Spearin and husband Peter, William Whitehill and wife Rosa, and Susan Mead and husband Dexter; 13 grandchild­ren; 4 great grandchild­ren, his nieces, nephews, family relatives and dear friends. He was predecease­d by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 70 years, Doris, who passed 29 days before him; also his brother John (Jack) Whitehill, sister Jean Romesberg, and grandson, Andrew Whitehill. Robert was a 1950 graduate of Norwich Free Academy. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the Navy aboard the submarine USS Cobbler. He worked with distinctio­n as an engineer at United Technologi­es where he was recognized by NASA for his creative developmen­t of a technical innovation, Advance Technology of Fuel Cell Design, and for his contributi­on to the success of the first manned orbital flight of the Space Shuttle. Bob was a man of many talents who, in partnershi­p with his dear wife Doris, dedicated his life to his family with unwavering devotion.

A graveside service and celebratio­n of life for both Robert and Doris will be held at 11:00 am, June 8th, at the Town of Marlboroug­h Cemetery.
