Plenzio, Donna L.

Donna L. Plenzio, 77, of Vernon, formerly of East Hartford, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. Donna was born on August 24, 1945, in Hartford, one of three loving daughters of the late Louis and Theresa (Tortoro) Plenzio. She was raised in East Hartford, attended local schools and was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1964. Donna started off working for the Aetna in downtown Hartford enjoying the casual ride to work with her brother-in-law, Eddie. She later became a dedicated sales representative with Kmart for 30 years. Later she worked alongside her mom at the retail store for Pratt and Whitney for several years and finally retired from Babies-R-Us in 2013. Donna was always available to babysit her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews or anyone in need of a toddler being watched and the occasional elder. In more recent years she volunteered, giving joy and companionship to those at an assisted living facility in South Windsor. She attended the St. Christopher Church in East Hartford and St. Bernard Church in Rockville. Donna is survived by her two sisters: Rosemarie Carlson of Vernon and Sharon Thumm and her husband William of Holtsville, NY., and several nieces, nephews, and their families. In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her brother-in-law Edwin Carlson. Calling hours will be on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 9:30-10:30 am with a Prayer Service at 10:30 am all at the Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road in Vernon.
