Ed grew up in Hartford along with his late siblings, Mary, Hilda, Louis and Raymond. When he was seven years old, his dad died of pneumonia which created a family hardship, which in turn helped to forge a tremendous work ethic in all five children. Ed served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the invasion of Germany during the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably discharged, after receiving the rank of Sergeant. He settled back In Hartford and worked at Underwood Typewriter for several years. In 1952 he married his wife Elaine and they were married until her death in 2012. Ed and Elaine moved to Windsor Locks where they raised their five children, and they later moved to Suffield. Ed worked at Heublein for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. Later that year he, along with his son Raymond, started Perleoni & Son Landscaping. Ed continued to work well into his 70's. He often said “if you're going to accept a job, do it right, or don't do it at all.” Ed was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a devout Catholic throughout his entire life. Ed was a sports fan and enjoyed listening to the Yankees on the radio. Ed liked crossword and jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed a good card game.
Along with his wife and siblings, Ed was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Marotta and his son-in-law Jeff Breton. He leaves his son Raymond Perleoni and wife Kathryn; daughters Cynthia Gomes, Gloria Breton and Claudia Kennedy; nine grandchildren, Francis, Felicia, Anthony, Nicholas, Lauren, Jeremy, Michelle, Jonathan and Julia; and 12 great grandchildren.
