Sunittaya Tanthuwani­t, a loving mother, sister and devoted friend passed away peacefully at her home in West Hartford, CT, on May 2nd, 2023, surrounded by her adoring family. Born in Thailand on March 14th, 1960, the youngest daughter of Jittin Tanthuwani­t, she lived a fulfilling life before immigratin­g to the United States in 1983. She carried with her the values of her homeland, which she instilled deeply in her three children.

Sunittaya received her master's degree from the University of Hartford and worked as a computer programmer for United Healthcare for 20+ years, where her dedication, talent and humor were recognized by her colleagues. Although working full time, she was constantly active in her children's lives, providing unwavering support for their musical pursuits, academic goals, and athletic interests. Her love for her children knew no bounds. Sunittaya gave the gift of music to her children, something that they will continue to cherish and share with the world for the rest of their lives. Sunittaya courageous­ly battled cancer and chronic pain for ten years, maintainin­g her wit and warmth throughout. Sunittaya's family extends their deepest gratitude to the medical profession­als and supportive community who cared for her with such compassion, enabling her to continue her fight with grace and dignity. It was evident how grateful and lucky she felt for the richness she received in life.

Sunittaya is survived by her three children, Luke, Tiana, and Kaila Piscitelli, many loving relatives, and her “grandchild” Bean Sprout, her loyal dog. Calling hours will be held at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave, West Hartford on Thursday, May 11th from 4pm7pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Sunittaya's memory be made to the Healing Meals project, the Sharsheret Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
