Ivan (Ike) Eugene Stuart, 94, of Enfield, CT passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023.

Ike was born in the small coastal town of North Lubec, Maine to Emory and Elizabeth Stuart. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Beverly, Clayton, and Emerson, and sister, Patricia.

Always a hard worker, from a young age in Lubec Ike worked on farms in the summer, sold fresh fish door to door in town, and set up pins at the local two-lane bowling alley. At age 12 he and his family moved to New Britain CT, where he attended New Britain High School and A.I. Prince Technical School, apprenticing in electricity and plumbing. He enlisted in the United States Army at age 17 and served in Korea for two years. Upon returning, he met the love of his life, Helen Galvin, at a dance in East Hartford, CT. They married in 1951 and spent 66 happy years together, until her passing in 2017.

Ike enjoyed a successful 35-year career with The American Linen Corporation where he earned many awards and promotions. He also loved and cared for the home he proudly purchased in Enfield in 1957, where he happily resided for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed his morning coffee, reading the Hartford Courant, and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, the UConn men's and women's basketball teams, and the Connecticut Sun.

Ike was very devoted to, and took great pride in his family. He leaves his five loving children, Marie Liebman (Leon), Joanne Briody (Charles), James Stuart, Eileen Kenny (Michael), and Paul Stuart (Jill). He was also blessed with twelve grandchildren; Patrick, Adam (predeceased), Alyson, Spencer, Christopher, Daniel, David, Maura, Nolan, Hunter, Galvin, and Libby; and three great-grandchildren; Jack, Eddie, and William, with two more on the way. Ike also leaves former daughter in law Jean, friends and caregivers Joanne and Filanza, and many beloved nieces and nephews, a close and wonderful extended family.

Ike lived a life of integrity, commitment, and dedication, taking pride in all that he did. He exemplified kindness, joy, gratitude, and love in all of his actions.

Relatives and friends may join his family during a visitation period on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider performing an act of kindness in his memory. He was truly the kindest person we have ever known. Words can't express how much he will be missed by so many. To leave an online condolence message visit: www.brownememorialchapels.com.
