Eunice Leone of Torrington Connecticut passed away on June 21, 2023 at The Reservoir, in West Hartford Connecticut at the age of 100. After living most of her life in Litchfield County she moved to West Hartford in her later years to be closer to those who loved her so very much. Eunice was born in Goshen Connecticut to father Carlton Prindle and mother Myrtle Robinson Prindle. She was one of eight children growing up together in Goshen. In her youth Eunie, (her adoring nickname) helped with family chores and acquired many lifelong skills like gardening, baking and selflessly serving her family and community. She loved spending time with her siblings. They would knit, cook and make crafts for church. The mitten tree at church was always well decorated, and new babies were snuggled in beautiful knit treasures made with love. Eunie was happily married to Ralph A. Leone for 50 plus years. Eunie leaves behind two daughters Marie Gosinski of New Hampshire, and Donna Mason of West Hartford Connecticut. Two sons in laws, Phil Gosinski and Chris Mason, as well as three granddaughters, Tracy Helfrich, Nikki Doyle, Sara Gound. Eunie was preceded by her granddaughter Joy Gosinski, who is always in her prayers. Eunie had several great grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Great Grammy Leone. Reid and Jake Helfrich, Tiarnan, Lucy and Adeline Doyle, and Greyson Ground. Eunie loved to spend time with her family and was always up for anything! Eunie would always host the holiday dinners where her cooking skills would shine! She was known for her cream cabbage and candied sweet potatoes, and of course, her mother's turkey and stuffing recipe! Family members would work in the kitchen grinding turkey parts for sausage for the holidays. After the meal the family would go bowling to help make room for dessert! Pie is another speciality of Eunie. Apple, blueberry and pumpkin were her most famous. She always baked pies for the church bazaar, her pies were so well liked in the community people would place direct orders with her! Eunie was a hairdresser by trade and worked at Mertz Beauty Salon for over 20 years. Later in life Eunie opened her own shop called Eunice's Salon of Beauty. Many of us can still picture the starburst 50's style clock on the wall and the smell of the setting process for a client's permanent. Eunie believed in her community and tirelessly volunteered for numerous charities and events over the years. She was a Girl Scout Leader for troop 15 at Center Congregational Church in Torrington, she was also a dedicated Sunday school teacher. Her love of gardening poured over to support the beautification committee in Torrington. If you were up early enough you would see Eunie, in her safety vest, working on weeding and maintaining flowers around town. She was a former president of the Quota Club, and helped organize May Day celebrations at Mertz & Company for over 20 years. She volunteered at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital gift shop. In her free time she enjoyed golfing, gardening and baking! Those who loved Eunie and those who were helped by her will remember her each year when her favorite flower blooms, the forget-me-not. Services will be held at the convenience of her family.

Donations in Eunice's memory can be made to First Church of West Hartford, 12 South Main Street, West Hartford Connecticut, and The Beautification Committee, 140 Main Street Torrington Connecticut.
