Martha Bernetta Fogg (Dobbins) of East Hartford, CT died peacefully at her home on July 30th; she was 96 years old. Martha was born May 21, 1927 in Boston, MA and grew up on her family's farm in Bradford, VT. She graduated from Bradford Academy in 1945 and Houles Beauty Academy in 1946. Martha moved to Connecticu­t in 1959 where she met her husband Ralph Fogg, Jr.

Martha worked for many years as a rating analyst at the Travelers Insurance Co in Hartford, CT from which she retired at the age of 65. Her favorite hobby was sewing, a passion that grew to designing magnificen­t and meticulous­ly crafted quilts. Over the years dozens were given to family, friends, and various charities. She was an avid reader and was frequently seen at her home with a book in hand or attending to her sewing machine.

Martha was a loving and generous woman who volunteere­d with various organizati­ons including the Brownies, Girl Scouts and Meals On Wheels. She also had a deep affection for animals and adopted many dogs and cats throughout her years. She was a parishione­r of St Issaic Jogues, East Hartford. Her family was her first priority and her most cherished moments were at family gatherings with her children and grandchild­ren (Rebecca and Ralphie). Martha's three children, Maureen (Greg), Ralph (Millie) and Kevin will miss her dearly.

Martha was predecease­d by her loving husband, Ralph, and her brother Bernie. She is survived by her younger brother, Leonard Dobbins, of Bradford, VT. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 9th, beginning at 10AM, at St Rose Church on Church Street East Hartford, CT followed by a burial at Silver Lane Cemetery in East Hartford. Donations can be sent to Protectors of Animals in East Hartford, CT in lieu of flowers.
