Workman, Jane C.
Jane Carol Workman passed away on December 29 at home in Burlington. CT. The daughter of the late Paul Quinby and Alice D. (Arndt) Quinby of Philadelphia, PA she was born on November 2, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Roxborough High School in 1959. The last half of her final semester Jane worked at the Clarke Mortgage Company in downtown Philadelphia on alternate weeks and went to school the other week. Following graduation, she accepted a full-time position with Clarke and its insurance division, Seaboard Agency. Jane held multiple jobs in these two companies until she left to get married to Donald G. Workman in 1969 in Philadelphia and move to Connecticut. In Hartford she worked in the Data Processing Department as a Financial Manager for The Travelers and United Healthcare. Donald and Jane built their home in Burlington where they have lived for 46 years. Don had a keen interest in liturgical choir music and classical music, and they enjoyed frequent trips to sundry venues in this country and the UK. Over several years they enjoyed spending time in Weston, FL during the Winter season. Jane is a Christian and participated in many church activities such as Christian Endeavor, Hymn Sings, needle work and more recently knitted and crocheted Christian Prayer Shawls. A member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Bristol, CT she was an active participant in their prayer shawl ministry. We want to thank the church family for all their support, cards, visits and prayers during this difficult time. She was an avid water aerobics participant over many years until her treatment interfered with her stability. She became identified by her special hats and was fondly known as The Queen in Weston, FL. She made many friends in her water aerobics programs and we want to thank them for all their encouragement and visitations. She is survived by a brother Robert Paul Quinby, Sr. and his wife Wendy Quinby of Pennsburg, PA, a niece Cathleen Ann Johnson of Schenectady, NY and Thomas Hale Schenectady, NY and several nephews, Robert Quinby, Jr. of Coopersburg, PA, Ryan Quinby of Pottstown, PA, Randy Quinby of Chambersburg, PA, Brian W. Johnson of Manlius, NY their spouses and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by sisters-in-law Linda (Philpott) Quinby of Chambersburg, PA, Shirley (Workman) Johnson of Rome, NY and a brother-in-law Walter W. Johnson of Rome, NY. We want to thank Hartford Healthcare Hospice at Home nurses and staff and the Caring People aides who provided her hospice care at home. Arrangements are being coordinated by Carmon Funeral Home in Avon, CT. A burial memorial service will be held at the Workman/Johnson gravesite in Evergreen Cemetery, Lee, NY in mid-May. The actual date is to be determined.
