DiPrato, Albert J.

-

Albert J. DiPrato, 93, of Wethersfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 26, 2024. Born in Hartford, August 11, 1930, he was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Calamari) DiPrato. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Josephine (Ida) DiPrato.

Albert grew up on Newberry Street and Grandview Terrace. He attended Bulkeley High School, and graduated in 1948.

In 1951, Albert was drafted by the U.S. Army and served two years in the Korean War. He returned to Hartford and married Jo, the love of his life. Jo and Al made their home in Wethersfield on Concord Circle. It was where they raised all seven children together.

Dad was a devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and most recently great-grandfather. Albert, a true gentleman, hard-working and loyal family man, was genuinely kind, helpful to all and most importantly a man of faith. His warm smile and generous heart will be remembered by all who knew him.

Albert worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Wethersfield for 36 years. He was known around town for walking his route with a friendly smile or wave. In his retirement, Jo and Al enjoyed the simple things that they valued most together; family time, visits with friends, drives to the shore and breakfast after Mass. Dad showed us what a “good life” is by his example each and every day, at every stage of his life. He will be dearly missed.

Albert is survived by his seven children, Gregory DiPrato (Valerie) of Westport, Alan DiPrato (Kathryn) of Rocky Hill, Michael DiPrato (Debbie) of Orlando, FL, Mary-Jo Bronson (Ken) of Glastonbury, Paul DiPrato (Lisa) of Milford, Beth-Ann Lattanzio (Steve) of Wethersfield, Linda-Jean Rafferty (Kevin) of Glastonbury; his 14 grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica, Allison, Lynne (Evan), Amanda (Perry), Kimberly (Will), Matthew, Sydney, Aidan, Kerre-Jo, Madilyn, Delaney, Luke, Zachary, and his great-grandchild, Josie. He is also survived by his dear sister, Ann Mirabello and her husband Frank of Wethersfield, along with his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Our family would like to express gratitude to those who cared for Dad in recent years at Atria and at Glastonbury Health Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (March 5) at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
