Staines, Felicia E

-

Felicia E. Staines, 62, of Glastonbury, CT, passed away on February 7, 2024, following a heroic battle against cancer.

She was born Felicia Eileen Greaves, in Manchester Connecticut. She graduated from Stafford High School then received her bachelors as a Registered Nurse from Southern Connecticut State University. She married Brian Staines, in 1985. Felicia and Brian lived together in their home in Glastonbury, where they raised their family of three daughters. Felicia is survived by her husband, Brian; her children: Aubrey and husband Kevin Fountain of Willington, Megan Staines of Glastonbury, and Shelby Staines of Glastonbury. Felicia was also privileged to have and spoil two beloved grandchildren: Adalynn and Madison Fountain of Willington.

Felicia was the most loving, caring, nurturing mother, Meema and friend there was. She always thought of others, never worrying about herself. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Felicia was very talented and enjoyed many things in her life. She adored plants, flowers, feeding the birds, reading, and shopping for others. She enjoyed being outside and all types of weather. Rainbows were her favorite. She enjoyed baking and loved crafting. She could make anything with her creativity and determination. Many people have been able to appreciate her crafting and creativity over the years.

After taking care of her family, Felicia's true calling was taking care of others as a registered nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital. She began her career as a cardiac CCU nurse; she then transferred to PICC service; during COVID she was a heart transplant coordinator; and at the end of her career she did quality control file reviews. In all of her positions, she comforted, inspired, and cheered up patients and staff alike. She was known as the “Birthday Fairy” for always decorating for and celebrating her work family. Her nursing family meant the world to her and were there by her side, even in her final days.

The family would like to give a huge thank you to the doctors and nurses at Hartford Hospital and DanaFarber Cancer Institute for their care, patience, and compassion during a difficult time. They would also like to thank their neighbors, friends and family who were loving and supportive, not only to Felicia, but to the family, throughout her vigorous battle.

Felicia will be missed by all who knew her. We will continue to see her light and love at the end of each rainbow. The family will have a private Celebration of Life.
