Wladyslawa “Wladzia” “Gladys” Mirecki, 97, of New Britain, beloved wife for 57 years of the late Bronislaw “Bruno” Mirecki, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain. Born in Golina, Poland on April 2, 1926, daughter of the late Jozef and Stanislawa (Rydlinska) Wawrocki, she was raised in Jarocin, Poland.

At the age of 14, she was taken away from her family to perform forced labor in Germany. She did not see her family again for 25 years. After five years of hard labor, she was liberated by American soldiers and was sent to a Displaced Person's Camp in Germany where she met Bronislaw, her future husband. A year after he came to America, she was able to join him in 1948. They worked at a foundry before starting a family, then Wladyslawa stayed home to raise their two children.

Wladyslawa was deeply religious with a strong and enduring faith. Wladyslawa was devoted to the Divine Mercy of Jesus Christ and prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet daily. She was a communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford for over 65 years, where she was also a member of the Holy Rosary Society. Proud of her Polish heritage, she was a member of the Polish Army Veterans Association of America, Post #119, Ladies Auxiliary in Hartford and the Polish Women's Alliance of America, Group #553. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her family, tending to the flower gardens around her home, and swimming and chatting with her friends at the Hospital for Special Care pool.

She leaves her devoted daughter, Halina Mirecki of New Britain; a son, Stanley Mirecki and his wife Terri of Hebron; two grandchildren, Catherine Cormier and her husband Shawn of Southington and Zachary Mirecki and his partner Michael of Hartford; two greatgrandchildren, Gabriel and Scarlett Cormier; and 12 nieces and nephews in the United States and Poland. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Antoni, Jozef, and Kazimierz Wawrocki; and a sister, Jadwiga Jaskowiak.

The family of Wladyslawa wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Monsignor Bojnowski Manor, especially to Sister Catherine, Millie, Nguyen, Jessica, and Penny for the love, compassionate care and support given to her over the years.
