WEST HARTFORD — With nearly 20 different logos around West Hartford — from the the government, school district, police and fire departments to the local parks and services — town officials are planning a rebranding campaign.

Town officials are seeking resident feedback on a survey at westhartfordct.gov, created to elicit keywords that capture the “essence” of West Hartford. Some of the suggestions include “best place to raise a family,” “hip,” “progressive,” and “transparent government.”

Renée McCue, the town’s public relations specialist, said Monday that the town will pay local agency Ryan Marketing $5,000 to assist with the rebranding.

“When you look at the perfect logo it should be simple, memorable, timeless, versatile and appropriate,” McCue said, noting that the current logo isn’t any of those things.

The survey will be online until Sunday, McCue said.

McCue said the committee working on the rebranding — Town Manager Matthew Hart, executive assistant Brittany Stephenson, Town Clerk Essie Labrot, Planner Todd Dumais, economic development specialist Kristen Gorski, leisure services director Helen Rubino-Turco, and West Hartford public libraries specialist Joe Cadieux — hopes to have three images for the public to choose from by the end of October.
