Police: Bistro Takes Gunfire
Zaytoon’s Window Has Bullet Holes
WEST HARTFORD — A Park Road restaurant was hit by bullets overnight, leaving holes in the front windows, police said. No one was injured.
The bullet holes were discovered in Zaytoon’s Bistro, 165 Park Road, on Wednesday morning, police said. The business owner called police to report the damage at about 9:50 a.m.
Police responded and found that “the exterior of the building had been hit several times by bullets,” Police Chief Vernon L. Riddick said. Part of the road was shut down as officers investigated, and was later reopened.
At least three bullet holes could be seen in one of the bistro’s front windows. Police said shell casings were found outside the restaurant.
During a news conference, Lt. Eric
Rocheleau said police have linked the gunfire to one 911 text message sent to dispatchers at 3:45 a.m. in the area of Arnoldale Road, reporting that several shots had been fired in the area 35 minutes earlier.
“Officers did check that area,” Rocheleau said. “They came up with nothing and so then we put two and two together this morning to confirm that it was probably the same incident that occurred since it was a side street and not far from where the shooting occurred.”
Rocheleau said the 911 text message did not identify a specific address, but rather a general area.
Police will release more information as it becomes available, the chief said. Anyone with information is asked to call West Hartford police at 860-523-5203.
