Man allegedly threatened judge and DCF employees

WILLIMANTIC— An apparently disgruntled father was charged early Thursday after allegedly threatening employees of the state Department of Children and Families and a judge in a lengthy Facebook Live video posted on Christmas Day about how his children were “kidnapped."

State troopers investigating the threats reported by the employees obtained an arrest warrant charging 41-year-old Fernando Irizzary, of Willimantic, with inciting injury to person or property and two counts of harassment, state police said.

A DCF worker contacted Stonington police and reported that she felt her life was being threatened and sent a detective the Facebook Live video. State police first learned of the incident from a security supervisor at the state Department of Administrative Services who had been contacted by DCF.

The Stonington detective shared with state police detectives the 36-minute video, which showed Irizzary on a bed in a home talking about how DCF and the police kidnapped his children, the arrest warrant affidavit says.

He says a DCF employee lied, and he named a judge who he said “(expletive) up” and has no jurisdiction over his family, the affidavit says.

After naming the DCFindividuals, Irizzary said in the video that “justice will be served either legally, or that sometimes people don’t understand why people pull the trigger,” the affidavit says. Detectives said the video shows Irizzary saying there will be a day in which he will need to take action into his own hands, the affidavit read.

About 24 minutes into the Facebook video, according to the affidavit, Irizzary said: “I’m going to take action ... serious action, which you never know it might be lives.”

Irizzary was taken into custody and held on $100,000 bond. He was expected to appear in Superior Court in Willimantic on Thursday.
