Saturday: Black Wolves win at Calgary
Stephan Leblanc led the way with nine points on three goals and six assists and Reilly O’Connor tied his career high with four goals as the New England Black Wolves defeated the Calgary Roughnecks 16-10 on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. O’Connor also had two assists in the win for New England (2-1), while Callum Crawford picked up eight points on two goals and six assists. In net, Doug Jamieson recorded his first career victory, making a career-best 45 saves. The Black Wolves opened a 4-0 lead over the first six minutes of play, with goals from Seth Oakes, David Brock, O’Connor and Leblanc. Calgary (3-2) answered with a goal from Dane Dobbie with 4:24 remaining in the first, but Leblanc picked up his second of the night 1:27 later to put New England back up by four. Former Roughneck Tyler Digby increased the Black Wolves’ lead 58 seconds later and Dobbie scored again for Calgary as New England closed out the first with a 6-2 advantage. The Black Wolves will return to action Saturday, hosting the Georgia Swarm at 7 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena.
