Canisius edges Quinnipiac 65-63

Takal Molson scored the go-ahead layup with 5.6 seconds remaining and Canisius defeated Quinnipiac 65-63 on Thursday night in Hamden. Molson, who was 8 of 10 from the field, scored 18 points for the Golden Griffins (6-11, 3-2 MAAC). Scott Hitchon added15 points.

Cameron Young led the Bobcats (8-8, 3-2) with 20 points, Rich Kelly added 17 and Abdulai Bundu had 13 rebounds.

A turnover by Kelly set up the Golden Griffins for the go-ahead score. Canisius gained possession with 29 seconds remaining in a tie game and worked the clock inside of 10 seconds. Isaiah Reese fed Molson for the score then Quinnipiac missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

At West Long Branch, N.J., Ray Salnave had 17 points and Diago Quinn 15 and eight rebounds to lead Monmouth to the MAAC win. Jonathan Kasibabu had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Stags (5-13, 2-4) and Neftali Alvarez added 11.

At West Hartford, Noreaga Davis had 20 points and 10 rebounds as the Blue Jays picked up their first win in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Reserve Chris Childs had 15 points and Delshawn Jackson Jr. had 13 for St. Joe’s (10-8, 1-3).

At Chestnut Hill, Mass., John Bonner had 28 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Cardinals to the nonconfere­nce win. Wesleyan (12-4) led 33-27 at the half but then outscored the Gators 50-30 over the final 20 minutes. Antone Walker had 13 and Austin Hutcherson­11for the Cardinals.
