MANCHESTER – A Granby man with numerous pending drug charges was arrested again after he nodded off at the wheel of his SUV with a syringe stuck in his arm, police said.

Tyler Pincince, 31, of 20 Buttles Road, was charged in the recent arrest with possession of heroin, possession of drugs within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of paraphernalia within 1,500 feet of a school.

“I strongly urged Pincince to go into a long-term addiction treatment in-patient program,” Officer Douglas Morton wrote in his report. “I asked him what I should say to his young children on the night that he overdoses and dies.”

Police were called at 12:08 a.m. Friday to the parking lot of a Main Street restaurant after a woman found a man slumped over the wheel of a Ford Explorer with the engine run- ning, police said. A syringe was stuck in the man’s right arm, the report says.

Pincince woke as officers drove into the lot, then shut off the engine and got out of the vehicle, police said. Inside the Explorer, police found 44 bags of heroin, four syringes, a metal spoon and numerous used heroin bags, the report says.

Morton noted that Pincince faces multiple narcotics-related charges from arrests in Manchester in October and December. In each of those arrests, Morton wrote, he has tried to persuade Pincince to get help for his addiction.

“Pincince stated that this was the first night that he had relapsed and that he had been clean since December 2018,” Morton wrote. “Based on the 44 bags of heroin that I located within his vehicle and the vast amount of used baggies that I found, I suspect that this is not the truth.”
