East Hartford road projects planned, started
EAST HARTFORD – Road improvement projects funded by a $15 million bond issue that East Hartford voters approved last year are moving forward throughout town.
The goal, Mayor Marcia Leclerc said, is to rehabilitate 10 miles of a total 150 miles of town-owned roads each year.
The engineering division is focused on three major road improvement projects, which will be bid to contractors.
Delmont Road neighborhood
The project is in final design and will be put out to bid soon. The neighborhood is off Burnside Avenue (Route 44) near the Manchester town line and west of Wickham Park.
Roadway totaling about one mile will be reconstructed includes Delmont, Maridon, Bodwell and Vernon roads. The work will include a fulldepth reconstruction and drainage system extensions and is expected to be substantially complete before the end of the construction season.

It includes milling, paving, curbing and new signs and encompasses 3.85 miles of roadway between Brewer Street, Maple Street, Route 2 and Handel Road, including Cambridge Drive, Evans Avenue, Handel Road, Hollister Road, Jefferson Lane, Millbrook Drive, Nassau Lane, Oxford Drive, Princeton Lane and Sutton Avenue.
Expected to begin this year and finish in 2020, work will include improvements to drainage from Hollister Drive to Porter Brook.
