NEWINGTON — The Newington Rotary Club is hosting its annual Breakfast with Santa fundraiser on Saturday.

Residents can stop by the event to meet Santa and enjoy breakfast at an all-you-can eat buffet. There will be a craft area for kids and families can pose for professional quality photos with Santa for $10.

“The main attraction is of course in Santa Claus himself,” said Rotary president Dave Tedeschi. “Besides the list of toys and gifts he’s compiled for the boys and girls who eagerly await Christmas morning, Santa admits that the Rotary’s breakfast event tops the list of pre-holiday stops he must make to enjoy the smiles on the faces of the children and their parents who attend year after year.”

Event chair David Johnson said that the annual breakfast gives families the option to take photos with Santa away from the crowded and stressful atmosphere of local malls.

“It’s comfortable, it’s safe and there’s no stress usually associated with being at the mall standing in long lines with hundreds of other people waiting for some one-on-one time with Santa,” Johnson said.

The annual event will raise money for Newington Rotary’s ongoing service projects in town, including the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. The proceeds will be used to fund the Rotary’s distribution of dictionaries in local elementary schools and college scholarships and support the Newington food bank, fire, police and parks and recreation departments.

The event starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and will run to11a.m. at St. Mary’s School hall on Willard Avenue.

Admission is $9 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and children ages 3 to 12. Children younger than 3 eat free.
