Police make second round of arrests at drug den
Hartford officers return to Wethersfield Ave. house
City police said they seized 1,000 bags of fentanyl, plus crack and cash, and arrested eight people Wednesday at the same Wethersfield Avenue drug house where they made arrests three weeks ago.
The drug den’s doors were heavily reinforced — one with what looked like steel — in an apparent effort to keep police out, they said. The department’s Emergency Response Team helped narcotics officers get inside.
The arrests happened about 9 p.m. at an apartment at 349 Wethersfield Ave.
Police encountered two barricaded doors, Lt. Paul Cicero said. One had 2 by 4s across it and the other appeared to be reinforced with steel.
In addition to the fentanyl, police confiscated 86 grams, or 3 ounces, of crack cocaine and $4,500, Cicero said.
Three weeks ago Thursday, police seized 200 bags of fentanyl and two guns at the apartment and arrested different people, he said.
All eight people arrested were charged with possession of narcotics and possession with intent to sell, police said.
They are: Sergio Fuentes, 24; James Hennessey, 30; Dashua Roldan, 25 and Marcus Guadalupe, 30, all of Hartford.
Also arrested on the charges were Andre Davis, 24, of Windsor; John Colon, 29, of Hartford; John Moreno, 22, of Hartford and Brandon Broughton, 27 of Hartford, police said.
All but Hennessey also were charged with operating a drug factory, they said.
Detectives also recently arrested 47-year-old Jose Rivera in connection with the same Wethersfield Avenue building.
Rivera was wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting behind the building a month ago and was located by police and arrested Nov. 26. Police found him with 63 bags of heroin and fentanyl and .45-caliber handgun and charged him with seven offenses in connection with the shooting and drugs.
