Bloomfield police have secured an arrest warrant for the man they believe fatally shot two men outside of a local restaurant early Saturday morning.
Russell Smith, 44, whose last known addresses are 305 Dunfey Lane, Windsor, and 88 Leyfred Terrace, Springfield, is wanted on two counts of murder.
Bloomfield Police Chief Paul Hammick said Monday that police were able to identify Smith from videos and witness statements.
Hammick said police believe that Smith still has the handgun — which was registered to him — and that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police are also seeking two vehicles in connection with the incident: a 2011 white Subaru Outback with Massachusetts registration 7DW565; and a 2014 white Acura RLX with Massachusetts registration 5ZN395.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Elizabeth’s Bar & Restaurant at 772 Park Ave., just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, police said. One victim was shot in the head and the other was shot in the chest. They were taken to Saint Francis
Hospital and Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead in the emergency room, police said.
The victims, biological cousins, and brothers through adoption, were identified as Aaron Walker, 43, of Windsor, and Franklin Spencer, 42, of East Hartford.
Police believe the three men became involved in a verbal dispute inside the restaurant and that it spilled out into the parking lot where the shots were fired.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Bloomfield police at 860-242-5501.
