Tesla starts production

-

Defying orders from Alameda County, Elon Musk reopened Tesla’s only U.S. plant in Fremont, California on May 11. One day later, county officials agreed to the reopening if certain health measures were adopted. The San Francisco Chronicle had reported that some Tesla production lines had run over the preceding weekend, in defiance of the county’s shelter-inplace orders that effectively banned manufacturing.

Following this agreement between the county and Tesla, a lieutenant in the Fremont police department visited the plant to see that employee health screening and physical distancing procedures were in place. Later, the police department issued a statement saying that it desired to seek compliance with regulations rather than relying on other legal options.
