PHILADELPHIA— Onanight when their best player and Cy Young favorite wasremovedwith an injury, the Metscamebackand showed signs of life.

Jacob deGromleft his Wednesday night start against the Phillies due to what the Mets are calling a “right hamstring spasm” before the Mets rallied for a 5-4winover the Phillies.

DeGrom gave up three runs to the Phillies before exiting after just two innings. SNY showed deGromsitting next to Metshead trainer Brian Chicklo and pitching coach JeremyHefnerafter the second inning.

The Mets (22-27) trailed 3-0 after that second inning and 4-0 after the third, but scored four runs over the final four innings to win and end a three-game losing streak. J.D. Davis hit a two-run homer and had an RBI double during the comeback.

Hector Neris balked with pinch-runner Amed Rosario on first base in the ninth, which moved the shortstop into scoring position. Andres Gimenezlooped an RBI single to center to score Rosario for the go-ahead run. EdwinDiazearnedhisfourthsave of the season by striking out three in the ninth.

Luis Rojas’ club improved to five games under .500 following their first win since deGrom took the mound five days ago in Buffalo. The Mets are still on life support, and they must go 9-2 in their remaining 11 games to have a shot at the expandedpostseason, when more than half the league will be invited. Their primary mission is winning the series against the Phillies on Thursday.

Michael Wacha entered from the bullpen to replace deGrom andhurledfourinningsofone-run ball. The right-hander gave up five hits, but the solo shot to Jean Segura in the third hurt him the most. Wachapitched four innings in long relief to match his average number of innings pitched in six starts this year.

DeGrom’s chances of winning his third straight CyYoungaward may be in jeopardy. His ERA rose to 2.09 after the abbreviated outing, which dropped his NL ranking from first place to fifth in that category.
