Virtual AIDS CT Oscar party plans fashion show, music, contests, auction

The “Red Carpet Experience,” the annual Oscar party fundraiser for AIDS CT, will be held virtually this year, on April 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. The Academy Awards will be broadcast that evening starting at 8 p.m.

On the streaming event, Laree Salmon will provide musical entertainm­ent and dancers Carolyn Paine and Alex Zarlengo will do a fashion show. A silent auction will be held. Oscar trivia and ballot contests will take place, as well as a best-dressed contest. To compete in the best-dressed contest, people must send photos of themselves to Events@act-ct.org.

There are three enhanced levels:

For $25 per person, participan­ts get a raffle ticket. The raffle prize is a bottle of Bordeaux valued at $1,200.

For $75 per person, participan­ts get a raffle ticket and a three-course meal from Peppercorn’s Grill. The deadline to order meals is April 19. The menu is:

First course: Tuscan cannellini bean and fresh vegetable soup or organic field greens.

Second course: Fettucine alla Bolognese, Tuscan style beef pot roast, or ravioli all’Arancia or sauteed chicken parmesan.

Dessert: c hocolate mousse or fresh berries and bananas with mascarpone zabaglione.

For$125perpers­on, participan­ts can have that meal, as well as champagne and truffles, onebottle of red or white wine and one raffle ticket.
