Miller, Jr., John H.
John H. Miller, Jr., of Farmington, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Monday, July 19th, 2021 at the age of 76 after a brief stay in the hospital following unexpected complications after back surgery.
Born July 9th, 1945 in Hartford, he was the son of the late John H. and Grace (Tomlinson) Miller. John was a graduate of Conard High School, the University of Hartford, and a United States Coast Guard veteran. He started his career at Allied Electric and retired after many years at Automatech. For much of his career, he sold software and technology to increase automation and production efficiency for a number of industries.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Hansen) Miller, his three children, Deborah (John), Kristen (Andrew), and Scott (Rachel), and seven grandchildren, Emma, Payton, Sophie, Allie, Mason, Drew, and Maggie. He is also survived by one brother, Paul (Joy), niece Ashley (Dan), nephew Eric (Sara), and many cousins.
John loved restoring old Corvettes, boating in his classic Sea Ray, going to the beach, and toasting marshmallows by the pool with his grandchildren. John loved traveling the world with Ellen, and with as many family and friends as he could convince to come along. Some of John's favorite trips involved cruises with all his grandchildren, including his most recent where the entire family gathered to celebrate John and Ellen's 50th Wedding Anniversary. John was an avid fan of the Uconn Women's Basketball Team and rarely, if ever, missed a game.
Other than his lifelong commitment to caring for his family and his overt kindness, John was perhaps most well known and most beloved for his unflagging work ethic and willingness to drop everything to help family,
friends, and anyone who needed it. John was a man of seemingly unlimited skills and talent. There was nothing he could not install, build, or repair. He tried, with varying levels of success, to teach us to do more things for ourselves, but we always knew he would enthusiastically answer the next call for help.
