Parent, Mark Edward

-

Mark Edward Parent, 55, of Avon, Connecticut, passed away on September 20, 2021, after a courageous battle against cancer. Born on July 9, 1966, in Keene, NH, to the late Janice Parent Giordano and Louis Gilman, Jr., Mark grew up in East Longmeadow, MA. While completing his BS degree in physical therapy at Northeastern University in 1988, Mark discovered two of his greatest loves: his beloved wife of twenty-eight years, Tina Marshall, and his calling of thirty-two years as a physical therapist. Both loves brought endless joy and inspired him to help others heal every day. Mark earned an MBA from the University of Hartford in 1997 and became Area Manager at Hartford Healthcare. Although working with patients brought a beaming smile to his face and heart, he also loved mentoring the next generation of physical therapists. His friends and colleagues at Hartford Healthcare became family to Mark, and their support in the final months of his fight was invaluable. An avid sports fan, Mark enjoyed playing a variety of sports from rugby to basketball and delighted in the outdoors, especially biking around the state. Also, not a day went by without Mark cheering passionately for either the Red Sox, Celtics, or Patriots. Mark touched many lives, but none more so than his loving family

who continually draws inspiration and laughs from his life. In addition to his loving wife, Tina, Mark was blessed with two sons, Nicholas and Ryan Parent, of whom he was incredibly proud. He is also survived by

his brother, Michael Parent, as well as his in-laws, Donald and Janet Marshall, brother-in-law, Joseph Marshall, nephew, Brady Marshall, and beloved dog, Pepper. A Memorial Service for Mark E. Parent will be held on Friday September 24, 2021, at 4PM at Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001. The family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Hartford Healthcare Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, Hartford Hospital, Department of Philanthropy, 80 Seymour Street, P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06105,

so that Mark's legacy of helping others can continue. For directions or condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
