Lawmakers waste time on unimportant matters
In recent years, 27 U.S. states and territories have passed laws that reform their statutes of limitations for child sexual abuse cases. Such reforms provide victims of child sexual abuse a much-needed path to justice, which is currently not available to them. In Connecticut, however, our Judiciary Committee has refused to address this issue in each of their past three sessions. This year, the excuse given was that there wasn’t enough time to discuss it because it was a short session. Yet our legislators found time to debate whether lollipops should be the official state candy of Connecticut.
