Cooke, Marian

-

Marian Cooke passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 after a months-long battle with chronic pain. She was born in Chicago, IL to Carl and Dorothy Gepford and spent her childhood and early adulthood in the South Side of Chicago.

She worked at Time Life as an Accounting Supervisor until her marriage to Bill Cooke. After they married, they moved to Simsbury, Connecticut where they started a family and many new friendships. She later became a Cafeteria Manager for the Simsbury Public Schools so that she could keep a schedule that would allow her to be home to spend time with her daughter

Carolyn.

Marian had a lively sense of humor and a sharp wit; she was amazingly good at bluffing, which was a wonderful

asset in the many games she enjoyed playing. She was a loyal and supportive friend; dedicated in maintaining relationships with people no matter how many miles separated them or how long it had been since she had seen them last. She enjoyed baking and cooking and was always trying out new recipes on and for friends and family.

In her younger years she was quite active and adventurous; she enjoyed downhill skiing and traveling to places as far away as Hawaii and Australia - where she made a friend that she corresponded with for over 50 years. Her sense of adventure even led to her

expressing her true daredevil side by skydiving. She and Bill continued traveling through the years, leading to her visiting all 50 states, as well as Europe, Mexico,

Canada, Costa Rica, Panama, and New Zealand.

Bill and Marian moved to Covenant Living of Cromwell during their retirement where they were able to form many new friendships and continue being active and involved in things that interested them.

She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Bill

Cooke and her daughter Carolyn Blick.

She was predeceased by her parents and her two sisters.

Many thanks to those friends who always made sure she knew she was remembered and cared for, especially to George T. Blick.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 21, 2022 at 1 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 136 Capitol Avenue, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Presbyterian Church or the Covenant Living of Cromwell Benevolent Care Fund.
