Vikings edge Bills in OT

-

Patrick Peterson intercepted Josh Allen with 1:12 left in overtime to finally end a sloppy, yet thrilling backand-forth game between two of the NFL’S best teams, and the Vikings completed their rally from a 17-point second-half deficit to beat the Bills 33-30 on Sunday in Orchard Park, New York.

The Vikings took advantage of three turnovers by Allen in the fourth quarter and OT, pulling ahead late in regulation when he mishandled a snap and fumbled in the end zone.

Greg Joseph put the Vikings ahead to stay by hitting a 33-yard field goal with 3:42 left in OT. The game didn’t end until Allen, facing second and 10 at the Vikings 20, forced a pass over the middle intended for Gabe Davis, only to have Peterson intercept it a few yards into the end zone, his second pick of the day. Peterson ran out and slid to the turf.

Kirk Cousins threw for 357 yards, and Justin Jefferson had a monster game with 10 catches for 193 yards for the NFC North-leading Vikings (8-1).

The Bills (6-3) dropped out of the AFC lead with their second straight loss.

Allen, whose status for the game was up in the air due to an elbow injury, threw for 330 yards with a TD and the two interceptions.

Chiefs 27, Jaguars 17: Patrick Mahomes threw for 331 yards and four TDS and newly-acquired RB Kadarius Toney had his first career TD catch to help the host Chiefs win their sixth straight. Chiefs WR Juju Smith-schuster was placed in the concussion protocol after a helmet-to-helmet hit.

Giants 24, Texans 16: Daniel Jones threw two TDS, Saquon Barkley ran for 152 yards and a score and the surprising Giants followed their week off with the victory at home. The 7-2 start is the best for the Giants since opening 8-1 in 2008.

Dolphins 39, Browns 17: Tua Tagovailoa maintained his scorching form since his return from a concussion, throwing three TD passes as the Dolphins won their fourth straight win.

Steelers 20, Saints 10: Kenny Pickett and George Pickens ran for 1-yard TDS and LB T.J. Watt returned from a seven-game injury absence to help the Steelers shut down the Saints offense in the victory at home.

Titans 17, Broncos 10: Ryan Tannehill threw two TD passes to Nick Westbrook-ikhine as the host Titans rallied from a 10-point deficit for their

sixth win the last seven games. Tannehill missed the last two games with a sprained right ankle.

Lions 31, Bears 30: Jamaal Williams scored on a 1-yard run in the closing minutes, Jared Goff threw for 236 yards and a TD, and the visiting Lions scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to win their second in a row. Bears QB Justin Fields ran for 147 yards and two scores, after going for 178 the

previous week — the highest rushing total by a QB in a regular-season game since at least 1940. He became the only QB in the Super Bowl era with multiple rushing TDS of 60-plus yards in the same season.

Bucs 21, Seahawks 16: Tom Brady tossed two TD passes to lift the Buccaneers to the victory in the first regular-season game played in Germany. The Seahawks had won four straight.
