Right to choose belongs to women, not government
In the Courant’s story [Nov. 1, Connecticut section, Page 1, “Republican gubernatorial hopeful appeals to vaccine foes”], as Bob Stefanowski proposed that parents shouldn’t be forced to vaccinate their children, that it should be up to the parents, why is it the government’s right to force women to carry to term unwanted pregnancies?
If the government is forcing women to have children, then the government should give a monetary stipend to aid in the cost of childcare similar to what takes place in a divorce settlement.
The banning of abortion especially impacts low-income women, who will struggle to pay for the child’s care. Teenagers who are forced to have babies are ill-equipped financially and in maturity to adequately care for a child safely. Most likely the safety and welfare of the child will be impacted in both these cases.
Forcing a woman whose pregnancy would put the mother’s life in danger could leave the baby motherless and is not in the best interest of the child.
Maybe the government should focus on feeding the children we already have and not add to the problem by adding children from unwanted pregnancies. It is just making a problem worse.
The government should not be involved in a woman’s right to choose or not to choose to have a child. This is a denial of freedoms for women which are guaranteed in the Constitution.
All men (meaning all humans, both men and women) are created equal. It is unconstitutional for the government to make this type of decision for women. Limiting this constitutional right is a giant step to subjugate women as in the Arabian states.
