Helen (Grischuk) Hopkins, 93, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Marshall L. Hopkins, Sr., died peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Manchester Manor, surrounded by her family. Helen was born in Brooklyn, NY, daughter to the late Roman and Olga (Beresowsky) Grischuk. Helen met her husband Marshall in Brooklyn, NY and they married in 1949. They spent most of their life together in East Hartford, before moving to Vernon several years ago. She made her life's passion raising her 6 children and caring for her family. She also enjoyed gardening, reading mysteries, and watching mystery movies. A kind, caring, loving, and devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend she will be dearly missed. She leaves her 6 sons, Peter Hopkins (Deborah) of Wakefield, RI, Christopher Hopkins (Linda) of Manchester, Robert Hopkins of Hartford, Matthew Hopkins of Bolton, Marshall Hopkins of Hartford, and Jeffrey Hopkins (Joanne) of Wethersfield; her sisters, Katherine Maticke of Enfield, Jennie Spence of Enfield, Nadja Canella of Enfield, Lena Grischuk of Apple Valley, CA, and Stephanie Costanza of East Hampton; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Roman, and Walter Grischuk; and her sisters, Anne Zaitz, Bernice Wood, and Vera Dufault. Her family will receive friends on Sunday, January 29, 2023, from 12-1:30 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor; followed by a funeral service to begin in the funeral home at 1:30pm.
