Robert “Bob” Miller, 85, a resident of Boca Raton, FL for the past 20 years, and formerly of West Hartford, Avon, and Newport, R.I., died Friday February 3, 2023 with family by his side. He was the beloved husband for 60 years, of Lynne (Arons) Miller. Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the son of Samuel and Theresa (Rothstein) Miller. Robert graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford in 1956 and the UCONN School of Pharmacy in 1960. His first job was working at Ratner's Pharmacy in West Hartford. When Robert and Lynne were married in June of 1962, Lynne was chosen as Bride of the Year by the former Hartford Times newspaper, representi­ng the newspaper's first time recognizin­g a Jewish couple's marriage. Bob became the owner of Quaker Lane and Park Lane Pharmacies in West Hartford. He later worked as the Pharmacist for CVS in West Hartford for 25 years. Bob became known amongst his family and friends as the great medical advisor. Bob was an integral part of the community and center of West Hartford. He was respected and confided in by his customers. In his early days as a pharmacist, he and Lynne made local deliveries of medication­s to families. In appreciati­on for their long days in the Pharmacy, customers would bring them food at the Pharmacy. Bob and Lynne lived on Kirkwood Road in West Hartford and there is where they raised their three children and resided for 35 years. Bob enjoyed tennis, golf and being with his family. He was an expert at collecting old toys, comic books and trains. He was a loving and easy-going gentleman, kind and gentle, never had any outbursts, was a calming influence and was loved by all. Bob and Lynne were former members of Temple Beth El and Congregati­on Beth Israel, both in West Hartford. Besides his wife Lynne, Bob is survived by his three children: Scott Miller, Pam Miller Sickles and her husband Garrett Sickles and Steven Aaron Miller and his wife Keri Miller, six adored grandchild­ren: Ryan Sickles, Jess Sickles and Zachary Sickles, Sam Miller, Aaron Miller and Camden Miller and nieces Amy Pasco and Mindy Pasco-anderson as well as many dear life-long friends. Bob was predecease­d by his two sisters, Shirley Pasco and Henrietta “Chickie” Miller. A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00PM with Rabbi Michael Pincus officiatin­g, at the Beth Israel Cemetery, 27 Jackson Street, Avon (a funeral representa­tive will be at the main entrance). Following interment, the family will observe a private period of mourning. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
