Albin “Al” C. Anderson, Jr., 82, of East Hartford, loving husband of 60 years of Janet (Dawson) Anderson, peacefully entered into eternal life with his loving family by his side at his home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Born in Hartford on November 2, 1940, a son of the late Albin C. and Nellie (Kennedy) Anderson, he had been a lifelong resident of East Hartford. Al was a graduate of East Hartford High School, class of 1958 and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was employed for 43 years in the technology department by Aetna Insurance Company both in Hartford and Middletown. A devout catholic, Al was a faithful communican­t of St. Christophe­r Church, East Hartford.

A sports enthusiast, Al was a loyal fan of the New York Giants, New York Yankees, and the Uconn men and women basketball teams. He was an avid ten-pin bowler who participat­ed in several area leagues, including the Aetna Bowling League at Silver Lane Bowling Alley in East Hartford. He also golfed, loved cars and collected classical model cars. Family was important to Al and he always enjoyed the annual family vacations to Cape Cod, and travelling in his retirement years with family and friends on many cruise ships. Most of all, Al was a devoted husband, father, and grandfathe­r who cherished his time supporting and cheering his children and grandchild­ren at their sporting events and school activities.

Along with his beloved wife Janet, Al is survived by two daughters, Lynne A. Heim and her husband Bruce of Colchester, Patricia A. Clark and her husband Darin of South Windsor; a son, Craig C. Anderson and his wife Kathryn of South Windsor; a sister, Barbara Mckelvey and her husband Jan of Colchester; six special grandchild­ren, Kaitlyn Heim of Colchester, Sarah Heim and her fiancé David Wilcox of Colchester, Zachary Toper and Daniel Toper both of South Windsor, Cooper Anderson and Spencer Anderson both of South Windsor; one adored great-grandson, Silas Wilcox of Colchester; special friends for many years who traveled and vacationed with Al and Janet, Charles and Karen Boyer of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, former co-workers, and dear friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday (February 11th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 am at St. Christophe­r Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer Street, East Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, (Section 1), Hebron Avenue, Glastonbur­y. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in Al’s name may be made to the Special Olympics of Connecticu­t, 2666 State Street, Suite 1, Hamden, CT 06517.
