Eagles coordinators get head coaching jobs

-

Two days after the Eagles lost to the Chiefs 38-35 in the Super Bowl, their offensive and defensive coordinators were hired as head coaches.

The Colts hired offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and the Cardinals hired defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon.

Steichen, 37, becomes the Colts’ fourth coach since 2017.

Most recently, Frank Reich was fired in October after 4 seasons leading the Colts. Interim coach Jeff Saturday was one of the finalists for the permanent position.

The 40-year-old Gannon replaces Kliff Kingsbury, who was fired last month after going 4-13 in his fourth season. Gannon becomes the Cardinals’ fourth coach in seven years.

As expected, the Raiders released QB Derek Carr, who turns 32 next month, after he declined to waive his no-trade clause and just before more than $40 million of his contract would have become guaranteed.
