- — Staff report

Three people were found dead in a home in Brooklyn on Tuesday night, according to the Connecticut State Police.

Troop D in Danielson received a report of a suspicious incident at a home on Middle Street in Brooklyn just before 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Responding troopers found three people inside the house who were pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.

The state police said it appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public based on their initial findings.

Brooklyn Superintendent of Schools Patricia Buell said in a letter to families and staff that one of the victims was a child. The child did not attend Brooklyn Public Schools but lived in the same neighborhood as many families in the district.

“You may already be aware of a tragic incident that occurred in Brooklyn last evening,” Buell said in the letter. “There are three people who have died, one is a child. The child is not a student of the Brooklyn Public Schools, but our hearts break for their family and loved ones.

Buell also stated that staff and students had access to counselors Wednesday.

“Tragic events such as this can impact people differently,” she said in the letter. “Please reach out to counselors at the school or 211 to find counseling support if needed. We will address any needs as they arise.

“Please keep the family, neighbors, and first responders in your thoughts as we deal with this sad situation in Brooklyn.”

The Eastern District Major Crime Squad is investigating the incident, state police said.
