The Windsor boys basketball team postponed its game Friday night against Northwest Catholic when one of its players got hurt during a pep rally on Friday afternoon.

Windsor coach Ken Smith said 6-foot-5 junior guard Anthony Williams broke his leg when he was dunking the ball at the rally.

“The kids saw it happen and they were kind of disturbed,” Smith said. “I wish we could have postponed the game to a later date but there was no way.”

The Northwest Catholic game was rescheduled for Saturday and Windsor (14-5) lost 99-77.

“He had surgery when they were playing Saturday,” Smith said. “Everybody was worried about him. It just hasn’t been great.”

Williams averaged 15 points per game.

“He was probably one of our most consistent players,” Smith said. “He had a double-double last game.”

Another starter, junior point guard Quintin Floyd, just returned from missing three games with a high ankle sprain. Smith thought he had his team back together to make a run through the postseason.
