Elsie Turkis, 92, beloved widow of Mike Turkis since 1959 until his passing in 2013, of Columbia, CT passed away on Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at Vernon Manor surrounded by loving family. She was born January 29th, 1931 in Stony Plain, Alberta Canada to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Spadey) Webber. She graduated and attended Windham Nursing School. Moving to Columbia in 2001, with her husband and son, they resided in Vernon for almost 40 years. Elsie was employed by Rockville Nursing Home as a Head Nurse before retiring after over 30 years. She was a proud member of Manchester Nazarene Church for more than 50 years.

Elise was a loving wife, mother and grandmothe­r who devoted her time to family. She enjoyed gardening, painting, baking, and watching her beloved Boston Red Sox and spent a lot of her time in the garden with her cherished dogs. She will be most remembered for her warm smile and selfless nature. Elsie is survived by her son Bruce and wife Diane (Agnew) Turkis of Columbia, CT. Her grandchild­ren, Alisha and husband Mike Guerra of Vernon, CT, Adam Turkis and his fiancé Erin Howard of Coventry, CT, Austin Turkis of Columbia, CT. Her siblings, brother John Webber of Edmonton, Canada, her sister Alice Markland of Edmonton, Canada, her brother Murray Webber of Stony Plain, Canada. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

She is predecease­d by her Husband of 54 years, Mike Turkis of Columbia, CT, her parents Henry and Elizabeth Webber of Alberta, Canada, her sisters Irene Baker and Helma Christense­n of Alberta, Canada and her brother George Webber of Alberta, Canada.

Calling Hours will be on March 10, 2023 at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home, located at 400 Main Street, Manchester CT 06040 from 9am till 11am. A Funeral Home Service will begin at 11am. There is no burial at this time.
