Medvecky, Janice Helene

Janice Helene Medvecky, age 80, died on March 10, 2023, after fighting hard and beating the odds for a long time. She was born September 18, 1942, in Bridgeport, the only daughter and middle child of five children to Alexander and Sophie Renkowski. Janice grew up in Bridgeport, married Eugene Medvecky in 1964, and together they had 3 children. They enjoyed many years of Gene's skydiving adventures, camping and making many friends along the way. Janice loved working as a hairdresser throughout the community and then worked her way up to Billing Supervisor at Bridgeport Hospital. She continued her career as an AAPC Certified Professional Coder and Notary Public. When her children were young, she spent time as president and treasurer of St. Ambrose Madonna Guild. Janice enjoyed all sorts of games, particularly mahjong, card games, and Words with Friends. With Seymour Angel Hands knitting group, Janice knit many, many hats and shawls which were donated to babies and cancer patients. She always enjoyed the water, be it swimming at Seaside Park or spending time in the pool. Many fun nights were spent by the fire pit with the random animals that wandered into the yard. Her holiday crafts were enjoyed by many. She will be greatly missed by her children Janelle Ulickey of South Carolina, Candice Dritschler (Gary) of Oxford, CT, and Trevor Medvecky (Kristin) of Portland, CT; grandchildren Candyce Deoliveira (Marcos), Mark Kilburn Jr., Jaxon Medvecky and Erik Medvecky; and great-grandchildren Landon, Carolina, Theo, and Dominique. Janice was predeceased by her husband Gene in 2013. Friends are invited to greet Janice's family on Thursday March 16 from 4 to 7 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Her funeral service will begin in the parlor at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale, 35 Park St. New Haven CT 06519, where she received beyond excellent care.
