Quagliaroli, Donald H.
Donald H. “Quags” Quagliaroli, 60, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Lisa (Macdougald) Quagliaroli, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with Scleroderma. He was born in Hartford, on October 20, 1962; a son of the late Donald and Susan (Cutler) Quagliaroli. Donald graduated from Windsor Locks High School class of 1980 and married his high school sweetheart, “his girl” Lisa on May 18, 1985.
Donald's greatest accomplishment in life was his family. He worked tirelessly as an HVAC technician for Automatic Comfort, now known as Automatic TLC Energy, for 37 years until his retirement in 2018. Donald was a communicant of Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish, and was a volunteer firefighter for the Windsor Locks Fire Department. He was always giving of himself helping countless residents with their heating or air conditioning needs or aiding in the rescue during a fire, never expecting anything in return. He served on the Windsor Locks Fire Department for over 35 years, taking on numerous roles over the years such as a steward, mentor, and the leader of the “Big Q Doghouse” at the annual firemen's carnival.
Donald enjoyed camping and spending time at his favorite place, affectionately known as “Camp” in South Kingstown, RI where he could enjoy the beach, sail boats, and a cold one. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and giant laugh.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, his three children, Jessica Samson and her husband Dan, Eric Quagliaroli and his wife Karen, and Angela Quagliaroli; his two granddaughters, Kaylee Quagliaroli and Morgan Samson who he adored; his first grandson, Nolan Quagliaroli whom he was excited to meet in just a few weeks; his brother, Gary M. Quagliaroli and his wife Alice; sister-in-law, Brenda Quagliaroli; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He also leaves his work husband, Dale Callender and good friend Wayne Allen. He was predeceased by a brother, Brian Quagliaroli.
Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Road, Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. A graveside service will follow in Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations in Donald's memory may be made to the Windsor Locks Fire Department, 2 Volunteer Drive, Windsor Locks, CT 06096 or Donate Life, as he was a recipient of a lung transplant in 2018.
