Taub, Michael Stanley

-

Michael Stanley Taub died peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife Sylvia and his children. He was born in Hartford on April 26, 1939. He is predeceased by his parents, Marcia and Max Taub, and his brother Edward Taub. He and Sylvia were high school sweethearts. They met at Weaver High School and celebrated 60 years of marriage. After receiving his Bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State Teachers' College and his Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Hartford, Michael taught in the business department of Bloomfield High School before he and Sylvia purchased the Morse School of Business in Hartford. At 33 years old, Michael was one of the youngest post-secondary proprietary school owners in the United States. He was instrumental in crafting legislation regulating private career schools in Connecticut and was committed to growing and nurturing the Downtown Hartford community. In 1968, Michael and Sylvia moved their family to Windsor and eventually shared their residence between Bloomfield and Naples, Florida. He loved reading and keeping current on all the happenings in the world and was a reluctant but solid bridge player, a sports enthusiast, and a golfer. But more than anything, Michael loved spending time with his family. His family loved and admired his sense of humor, generosity, sharp wit, willingness to listen and share advice, and genuine caring for those around him. When you talked with "grampy," you were the center of attention and rarely left the conversation without a smile. Michael is survived by his wife, Sylvia Berkon Taub; his son Mark Taub and wife, Nita; son Paul Taub; daughter Stacey Weinstein and husband, Dan; his grandchildren, Daniel Taub and wife Stefanie Giera, Melanie Taub, Connor Taub and wife, Victoria, Griffin Taub, Carly Weinstein, Jaden Weinstein, Camryn Weinstein, and his great-grandson, Linus Taub. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 16, at 1:00 p.m., at Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
