Theodore “Ted” Gardziel, 79, of Ellington, CT, previously a longtime resident of Madison, CT, and Windsor, CT, the beloved husband of 59 years to Kathy Gardziel passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 11, 2023. Ted was born on November 14, 1943, in Brackenrid­ge, PA, one of two children to the late Ted and Angeline Gardziel.

Ted graduated from Harbrack High School in 1961. He then studied Accounting at New Kensington Commercial College for 2 years where he met his beautiful wife, Kathy. He also took courses in drafting and engineerin­g at Penn State University. Ted managed Foundry operations and did sales for many companies throughout his career as an expert Metallurgi­st in Western Pennsylvan­ia, Connecticu­t & Massachuse­tts… and never retired. He was a member of the Elks, previously of Windsor and Manchester, and also the Polish Club in Windsor Locks.

Everything he did was for his family, a beloved husband, son, brother, father, grandfathe­r, and great-grandfathe­r who enjoyed golfing, gardening, old Westerns, and a cold IPA. Ted was a passionate fan of his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers, and of UCONN Women's Basketball. A nature enthusiast and wildlife photograph­er that shared his passion with his family. As a resident of Deer Valley, neighbors were always greeted by Ted with his cheerful “Good Morning, just another beautiful day in paradise” as they walked by his porch.

In addition to his wife Kathy, Ted is survived by his three children Ted, Renae, and Annette. “Pap Pap” was able to enjoy precious times with Kathy, their eight grandchild­ren, and two Great Grandchild­ren. Ted Gardziel and his wife Tracy, Renae van Dell, and Annette Buckley and her husband Mike; his eight grandchild­ren, Brandon and his wife Paige, Everett and his wife Olivia, Taylor, Jesse, Cory and his wife Carley, Nicolas, John, and Emma; his two great-grandchild­ren Kitty and Fields; his sister-in-law Polly Gardziel, as well as other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Angeline Gardziel and brother, Walter Gardziel.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at The Lodge Community Chapel (a Carmon Funeral Homes property, formerly the Elks Club) at 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor, CT with a prayer service to begin at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel at The Lodge.
