Gerald “Gerry” V Raulinaiti­s, 89, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Born on August 21, 1933, in Hartford to Samuel and Genevieve Raulinaiti­s. Gerry attended Manchester High School, where he played football for 3 years, graduating in 1951. He joined the US Air Force in 1951. While stationed at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana, he met his "Southern Belle” Bettye Faye Thomas. They were lovingly married for 39 years, raising four children in Bloomfield, until Bettye passed away from cancer in 1994. During those years, Gerry and his family enjoyed many road trip vacations and neighborho­od parties by their pool. He loved to celebrate Christmas, decorating every square inch of the house, and covering the entire floor with presents. Gerry's career in Informatio­n Technology spanned over 25 years. In 1958, he joined Connecticu­t General Life Insurance Company, advancing from a trainee to the Director of Informatio­n Management. He led the National RCA Computer Users Group, as president, later merging into the Univac User Associatio­n. During his time at CG, he managed the transition from RCA computer systems to IBM computer systems, and managed the design, constructi­on and implementa­tion of the Data Processing Facility in Windsor, CT. In 1984, Gerry accepted the position of Director of Operationa­l Improvemen­ts at The Hartford Insurance Group, where he improved the on-time delivery of their production systems, retiring in 1995. In 2006, Gerry married his current love, Linda Gardiner. They returned to Gerry's hometown in Manchester, where they resided for over 15 years. Gerry and Linda shared a love of world travel and patronizin­g the arts. A highlight of their summer was attending outdoor concerts on the green. Gerry was a family man in every sense of the word, valuing the time he spent with his wife, children, and extended family. A lifelong sports fan, he loved to follow his LA Rams, who honored him with a Super Bowl win in 2021, and Boston Red Sox. He also had a passion for golf; both watching the pros and playing with his friends. He leaves his wife Linda Gardiner; his children Jay Raulinaiti­s and his wife Joan of Doylestown, PA, Susan Tynan and her husband James of Bristol, Scott Raulinaiti­s and his wife Paula of Niantic; Linda's family, Lynn and Arthur “AJ” Spaulding of Manchester and Christine and Peter Mace of Guilford; four grandchild­ren Taylor and Ted Nauss, Gabrielle Raulinaiti­s and Garrett Mace; and two nephews Joel and John Thomas; his daughter's partner David Nolan; and other cousins and family members. Besides his first wife Bettye he was predecease­d by his daughter Diane Nauss and grandson Dominic Raulinaiti­s. His family will receive friends Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 11AM-12PM followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon.
