Donald M. Murphy, 79, of Naples, FL and Avon, CT, beloved husband (for 58 years) of Arlene (Brodginski) Murphy, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL. Born in New Britain, son of the late Donald W. And Julia (Derita) Murphy, Don made his home in Avon before moving to Naples, FL. Don was an Avon police officer for 13 years leaving as a Sergeant to start Murphy Security Service which he successfully ran for over 37 years before retiring. As an avid golfer, he and Arlene spent over 38 years as members of The Golf Club of Avon. Don and Arlene enjoyed entertaining family and friends during the summer months in Avon as well as during the many months they lived in Naples. In addition to Arlene, Don leaves his daughter Dina Lawless and her husband Matthew Babbin of Avon; three grandsons Alec Lawless, Bailey Lawless and Jack Teri-savage. He ,also, leaves his aunt Beverly Murphy Weatherby , his sisters-in-law Nancy Liistro and Beth Devenis (Michael), and several cousins. His family will receive friends on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 3-6 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family and friends may gather Monday, April 3, 2023, at 9AM at Carmon's in Avon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at the Church of St. Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetary. Contributions in Don's memory may be made to Feeding America, St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, Unite Against Book Bans or to a charity of your choice.
