Jerome Levey, of West Hartford, died peacefully in his sleep of natural causes on Monday, May 15, 2023. He was surrounded by his family. He was 94. Born in the Bronx, Jerry was one of two children of Golda and Bernard Levey. His sister, Marian, passed away in 2014. Jerry was known as an authentic, warm, generous, classy, athletic guy with a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. In his younger days, he was a championship swimmer. When he taught his children and grandchildren to swim, drive or what it meant to be a decent person, his mantra was to do everything gracefully. With a close group of friends, Jerry ran marathons, biked to places far away, and most poignantly, spent ten days trekking the Himalayas of Nepal. It was physically demanding, though primarily, a spiritual journey. In addition to his outdoor adventures, Jerry's love of art, music, literature and politics made him an engaging, insightful conversationalist. Perhaps though, what made Jerry Levey a man among men was being a passionate, unrelenting, eternally devoted disciple to the New York Giants. He is dearly loved, and will be sorely missed, by his family and friends. Jerry is survived by daughters Beth of New York City, Nancy of Brooklyn, NY, and his son Keith of St. Louis, MO. He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Mirelle and Celine Eid, both of NYC, as well as Mirelle's husband, Greg Polovin, and the light of Jer's life, his great grandson Archie. Jerry's partner of 19 years, Marge Abrams, also deeply grieves his loss. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Myra Levey.
