Charles “Charlie” Theron Parmelee 84, husband of Carolyn (Kadrle) Parmelee passed away in his home in Higganum, CT on Thursday May 18th, 2023. Born June 8th, 1938, in Middletown, CT; he was the son of late Harold Leon and Alice (Stacy) Parmelee of Higganum, CT. Charlie was married to his wife Carolyn (Kadrle) for 61 years. Charlie grew up in Haddam and graduated Woodrow Wilson High School in 1957 where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He played profession­al baseball with the NY Yankee farm team from 19571960. Charlie worked as a Bridge Maintainer for the State of CT for 34 years retiring in 1994. He also had his own tree business. He was a life member of the Haddam Volunteer Fire Company from 1959-1977. Charlie was known for his stories and always being able to hold a conversati­on with anyone. He enjoyed spending time in Maine in his vacation home. In addition to his wife Carolyn, Charlie is survived by his daughters, Elaine Jackson and her husband Seth and Ellen Mckay. His four grandchild­ren, Nicole (Mckay) Howard and her husband John, Eric Jackson and his fiancée Haley Pinkham, Casey Jackson, and Kayla Mckay. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predecease­d by his late parents, Harold Leon and Alice (Stacy) Parmelee, his sister, Donna (Parmelee) Bryant; brothers Erwin “Bill” Parmelee, Harold “Hal” Parmelee, and his favorite dog “Bleu”. His Funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Burial will follow at Burr District Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday May 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial Contributi­ons can be made to St. James Episcopal Church, PO BOX 574, Higganum, CT (General Fund).
